BRIDGE

builders

We want to be a BRIDGE to help people get from where they are to where God wants them to be.

OUR VALUES
    TOGETHER

We know that we are better together.

“And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone.  Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.”

        1 Thessalonians 5:14-15

    GENEROUS

We will lead the way with radical generosity.

“You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.  Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.”

        2 Corinthians 9:11-13

    SERVE

Serving people is the norm around here and everyone has a role to play.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms..”

        1 Peter 4:10

    INVEST

We invest in the next generation.

“Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”

        Philippians 4:9

    PEOPLE

Lost people matter to God, therefore they matter to us.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

        Matthew 11:28-30

OUR BELIEFS
GOD IS THE CREATOR AND RULER OF THE UNIVERSE.

He has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The three are coequal and are one God.

        (Genesis 1:1, 26, 27, 3:22, Psalm 90:2, Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14)

JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD.

He is coequal with the Father and Holy Spirit. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He rose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven and will return again someday to earth to reign as King.

        (Matthew 1:22, 23, Isaiah 9:6, John 1:1-5, Hebrews 4:14-15, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Romans 1:3-4, Acts 1:9-11, Colossians 2:9-10,1Timothy 6:14-15)

THE HOLY SPIRIT LIVES IN EACH CHRISTIAN FROM SALVATION.

The Holy Spirit is coequal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides Christians with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer spiritual gifts when they are saved. As Christians we seek to live under His control daily.

        (Acts 1:8, John 14:16-17, 16:7-13, Galatians 5:25, 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16, Ephesians 1:13, 2 Corinthians 13:14, 1 Peter 1:2)

THE BIBLE IS GOD'S WORD TO US.

The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God’s revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy. It reveals the principles by which God judges us, and therefore is, and will remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried. All Scripture is a testimony to Christ, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation.

        Exodus 24:4; Deuteronomy 4:1-2; 17:19; Joshua 8:34; Psalms 19:7-10; 119:11,89,105,140; Isaiah 34:16; 40:8; Jeremiah 15:16; 36:1-32; Matthew 5:17-18; 22:29; Luke 21:33; 24:44-46; John 5:39; 16:13-15; 17:17; Acts 2:16ff.; 17:11; Romans 15:4; 16:25-26; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Hebrews 1:1-2; 4:12; 1 Peter 1:25; 2 Peter 1:19-21.

PEOPLE ARE THE SUPREME OBJECT OF GOD'S CREATION.

People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin.” Sin separates us from God and causes many problems in our life.

        (Genesis 1:27, Isaiah 53:6, Romans 3:23, Isaiah 59:1-2, Psalm 139:13-16, Colossians 2:13-15)

SALVATION IS GOD'S FREE GIFT TO US, BUT WE MUST ACCEPT IT.

We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into their life by faith.

        (Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9, John 14:6, Romans 5:1, 8, 10:9-10)

ETERNAL SECURITY THROUGH GOD POWER OF GRACE.

Because God gives man eternal life through Jesus Christ, the believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and eternal power of God that gives this security.

        (John 10:29, Jude 1:24, Ephesians 4:30, Romans 8:38-39)

PEOPLE WILL EXIST ETERNALLY WITH OR WITHOUT GOD.

People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is eternal life in hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life in Heaven. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.

        (John 3:16, 14:17, Romans 6:23, Revelation 20:15, Philippians 2:5-11, Matthew 25:31-34, 41)

BAPTISM IS SYMBOLIC OF THE DEATH, BURIAL, AND RESURRECTION OF CHRIST.

Once we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, baptism is a way for us to publicly declare our new life in Christ. It is also a step of obedience based on God’s commands and allows us to follow the example of Jesus, who submitted himself to baptism to “fulfill all righteousness.”

        (Matthew 3:16-17, 28:18-20, Acts 2:41, 8:12, Romans 6:4, Colossians 2:12)

MEMBER EXPECTATIONS

AT LAKESIDE CHURCH WE UNDERSTAND THAT WE ARE CALLED TO STAND IN THE GAPS FOR ONE ANOTHER.

    GIVE

Through sacrificial giving we believe God will be honored, the church will be united, and lives will be changed forever.

        >>GIVE

    ATTEND

By attending church gatherings we believe that worshipping Jesus together is powerful and encouraging, community is messy and amazing, and the fact that God would use us is pretty awesome.

Worship services are Sunday mornings at 8:45am, 10am, and 11:15am.

    PRAY

In our prayer lives we will recognize God as our Father and that He is holy, trust that God will accomplish His purpose and not our plans, have the confidence that God will provide for today and trust Him for tomorrow, and we will repent of the things we have done wrong and let go of the wrong things done to us.

    SERVE

As we serve others we believe that it allows us to experience purpose and fulfillment, surrounds us with other Christians who can help us follow Jesus, increases our faith, and allows us to experience God’s presence in new ways.
